Our Story - House of Hope
In 1984, Youth Challenge International (YCI) purchased 28 acres in Wildwood in order to offer a residential, rehabilitation program for men. YCI remained on the campus until 2014 when they moved their ministry back to Connecticut. Members of Hope Lutheran church purchased the property and allowed the newly-formed ministry of House of Hope to provide our program on that same campus. With assistance from the Helping Hands ministry of New Covenant UMC, the Hands of Hope ministry of Hope Lutheran church, generous local contractors, and many volunteers, all of the buildings were renovated for the House of Hope students and staff.
When Hope Lutheran sold this property in 2019, Wildwood UMC offered the ministry temporary housing at 703 Cleveland Ave. and the search for our permanent home began. Our students, staff, and board are excited about the next steps for the ministry and we invite you to join us on this journey.
